COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTUnited by a shared belief in the power of citizens to marshal education progress
We believed that the solutions required the mobilization of communities and individuals to solve their own problems. The committee’s volunteers were comfortable using skills of citizenship and encouraging others to do the same to get people’s attention, to take responsibility, and to send a message to those with legal authority that they must take action…These volunteers have shown that commitment, focus, and inclusiveness can produce outstanding results. They shared a deep faith in the power of high quality education.Robert F. Sexton
The more than 120 members of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence hail from all corners of the Commonwealth, and are united by a shared belief in the power of citizens to marshal education progress.
As such, the Prichard Committee works to ensure that Kentuckians have information that helps them understand the state’s education system and stay informed about progress and challenges.
We produce an annual guide to Kentucky’s education system – EdGuides – as well as an annual Glossary of Kentucky Education Terms. Every two years, we update the Top 20 by 2020 report to show Kentucky’s progress in reaching the top 20 of all states on key student performance indicators.
Please contact us to request a Prichard Committee member or staff to address early childhood, K-12, and/or postsecondary education issues at a meeting in your Kentucky community.
